Stitch and Chat

Come for the camaraderie. Stay for the friendship.

Many creative projects happen through the work and commitment of our group.

The group brings together an eclectic mix of skills and interests which cross traditions and generations. Often, people bring along a craft project that they are presently working on. We learn from each other and take inspiration from the great variety of projects that are always in progress.

Our Activities Throughout the Year

Pancake Supper

Pancakes

Pancake Day, or Shrove Tuesday, is the traditional feast day before the start of Lent on Ash Wednesday. Lent – the 40 days leading up to Easter. Shrove Tuesday always falls 47 days before Easter Sunday, so the date varies from year to year and falls between February 3 and March 9. It was the last opportunity to use up eggs and fats before embarking on the Lenten fast and pancakes are the perfect way of using up these ingredients.

Each year we gather for a pancake supper. Volunteers are always welcome to help with the flipping and set up and clean up.

Strawberry Social

Our Annual Strawberry Social happens each year during strawberry season which is usually around the end of June. There is always a variety of garden whimsy for sale, plants and home baking. Inside you will find strawberry shortcake made with fresh local strawberries.

Soups On!

Throughout the cold winter months we have hosted a soup lunch once a month at the church. Homemade soup with freshly baked scones, cookies and squares. All made by volunteers from the church.

During the last year, as we continued to stay home, we offered pre-ordered lunches for drive by pickup. It was great having the opportunity to connect with folks outside on pick up day. Check back soon to see when the next lunch will happen. All proceeds go to the ministry of our church.

Annual Christmas Dinner

Each year just before the busy season of Advent and Christmas gets underway, we host a Christmas dinner. A wonderful turkey dinner with all the fixings.

Dinner is followed by special performances and of course Christmas carols!

It is always a wonderful evening of fun, food and fellowship!

Mistletoe Market

There are many wonderful crafters, both from our congregation and from the community, who come with things to sell at our annual Mistletoe Market. It's a unique shopping experience like none other. There is also a soup lunch and you can't forget all the home baking for sale.

Over the last two years we have held a Virtual Market. It was a great success.
